About this course
The VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Indian Head Massage is a vocationally related qualification that will prepare you to provide Indian head massage treatments to a high level of occupational ability, to enable you to provide your own services for clients.
This is a vocationally related qualification and includes all the required elements to develop your practical skills. The four mandatory units include the practical and theoretical knowledge required to provide Indian head services and monitoring and maintaining health and safety practices in the salon, to ensure all treatments are carried out with health and safety as a priority.
The two remaining mandatory units provide the wider skills required to be a successful therapist of client care and communication in beauty-related industries and promote and sell product s and services. Both of these units address the need for a successful therapist to understand the importance of retail and client care.
Theory elements are covered online in your own home, in your own time and at your own pace via self study using our Virtual Learning Environment. This theory elements are perfectly suited to online delivery therefore they can be delivered and learning assessed online. You will be fully supported by your course tutor who’s role it is to help and guide you through the process from beginning to end. Both your tutor and assessor will ensure that you not only reach your goals but maintain industry and awarding body standards.
Practical elements are brought to life in a treatment room environment which enhances the learning experience. Compulsory Interactive Treatment room sessions will be accessed by attending 3 practical training days at our centre over a period of 6 weeks.
This is a practitioner level qualification
This qualification is based on Skills for Health Complementary Therapy National Occupational Standards (NOS) and is regulated on the Regulated Qualifications Framework. This qualification is recognised by the British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC) as being fit for purpose for preparing learners for a career as a specialist massage therapist in the hair, beauty or complementary therapy sector.
Prerequisites
Learners who wish to undertake this
qualification must also achieve the VTCT Level 2 Award in Infection Prevention
(COVID-19) for Complementary Therapies and
Sports Massage qualification or a regulated
equivalent. It is recommended that you have a level of general education comparable to GCSEs, a caring disposition and be committed to fulfilling both Practical and Theory Elements. You must meet the required Guided Learning Hours (GLH) by attending our centre for the Practical Elements and by working through the Theory Elements online.
Duration
This qualification can be completed in a minimum of 3 months, however on average it takes 6 months to complete the practical and theory elements. VTCT completion criteria allows a maximum of 2 years from registration.
Additional information
All necessary materials and equipment will be provided for use during the practical elements and assessments however you will be required to ensure that you have the necessary materials and equipment to complete this qualification.

Joanne Lee is an experienced Complementary Therapist specialising in holistic health, well-being, relaxation, fertility and stress management, with over 19 years’ experience in the field. It all started with a migraine and a Reiki treatment from a friend which lead to formal training in Reiki and Swedish Massage. Reflexology and Indian Head Massage quickly followed and she continued to add to her skillset. Joanne began to work with clients struggling with chronic illness and stress, especially work-related stress using complementary therapies.
Joanne set up her own therapy business from her conservatory at home to begin with, moving to bigger business premises in 2007. Joanne then embarked on a journey to be come a tutor and assessor enabling her to deliver professional vocational qualifications and CPD training. Fast forward to today and her business has evolved into The Full Spectrum Centre, an award winning centre for excellence in education, training, development, holistic health and well-being.
